Eagle Rock:
A Creative and Inspiring Neighborhood!

(Photo via Flickr. Photo Credit: Calamity Hane)

Eagle Rock got its name because of the gigantic boulder in the district’s northern edge that has an indentation which creates a stunning bird-shaped shadow.  Along with its beauty, Eagle Rock is a booming neighborhood in NELA known for its creative community.  Full of young urban professionals and families, Eagle Rock is becoming a popular place to live.

Being that it is a close knit and artistic community, Eagle Rock is a great place for families.  The Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock “provides local, innovative, and accessible arts programming” as well as helping create multicultural art education opportunities by offering art camps and workshops.  A staple in the community, The Center for the Arts, Eagle Rock has six exhibitions a year that showcase “over 200 local, emerging, and established artists annually” in their art auction. They also help produce the well known Eagle Rock Music Festival which is the largest free musical festival in LA!

Amongst the many fabulous Eagle Rock cafes and restaurants is Auntie Em’s Kitchen. Sound familiar?  If you watch The Food Network, you may have seen Bobby Flay challenge chef and owner Terri Wahl to a cupcake throwdown on Throwdown! With Bobby Flay. Auntie Em’s is famous for its huge and delicious cupcakes, but it also has amazing food made with local organic produce.  If you have never been, you have to go! I mean come on, if The Food Network loves it, so will you (and who doesn’t want an oversized cupcake!?)!

Dragon Decor

Happy Chinese New Year!

It seems being the “year of the dragon” has made it’s way into interior design too.

Wallpaper from Elitis, France comes in several different colorwaves.

Entertaining? These dragon napkins could be really pretty at a table setting.

Dragon sketch — affordable and available on Etsy.

Leave it to Jonathan Adler to add a dragon to his animal pottery collections — like this white porcelain dragon.

Dragon wallpaper could be really fun for a kid’s bedroom!
